New GT Headquarters Schedule
On Monday, May 2nd, Gracie Tampa Headquarters launched its NEW and EXCITING schedule!! After 5 years we decided it was time for a major change in our day to day routine in order to facilitate our student body more efficiently. Our classes are now broken down into 3 Parts: MMA Sections, CAP, and Add-Ons. The following memo will explain the changes in detail and the reasoning behind them.
We are now offering Mixed Martial Arts “Sections”. These classes are for our newest members who will benefit from learning fundamental aspects of Kickboxing, Wrestling, Grappling, and Self Defense all in one class. This hybrid session is infused with warm ups, stretches, and techniques. New clients will sign up for the section that suits their schedule the best. This will ensure that our students receive more face time with specific instructors who can work to better their particular game. Members in the MMA Sections are also allowed to participate in the White to Black Saturday Class as well as the Saturday Open Mat. Weekly Drilling Classes and Open mats are only for our “CAP” Members.
Mixed Martial Arts Sections require its students to wear a “Gracie Tampa Uniform” (GT Shirt), and bring their boxing gloves to each class.
Our MMA Conditioning Classes are also changing slightly. With a set curriculum, each week classes will build off of each other with new exercises, stretches, and goals. This class was not created for our “Pro Fighters”. This class was created for those who are looking to improve their conditioning, sweat some pounds off, and are looking for a thrilling new way to work out and relieve stress. This class is an “add-on”, meaning any student, no matter what their level of skill, has the opportunity to take this class if they have signed up for it.
The “White to Black” Session on Saturday mornings is an extraordinary and unique class to our schedule. This gives ALL GT students an opportunity to train with Rob Kahn, our Head Professor and Owner. Although all of our instructors and coaches are more than qualified to teach, training with Rob Kahn is like no other. This is every student’s opportunity to get questions answered and learn not only about our world class techniques, but more importantly the theory behind them.
The diversity of the class will also allow our higher ranking students to improve on their teaching skills and will allow our newer students to visualize what their game will one day consist of.
What is CAP?!?
CAP is Gracie Tampa’s “Combat Athlete Program”. This Program is for the student who is ready to commit themselves to training at GT. These classes are where you hone your skills and develop on your fundamentals that you have learned in our MMA Section Classes.
We offer multiple CAP Classes:

All students who want to try out, must know the basics of the rules and point systems, as they will be required to ref matches during the try outs.
Sparring – This class is for our Amateur and Pro Fighters. All fighters MUST attend these practices in order to fight under the Gracie Tampa name and must try out for this prestigious honor. We have developed a world class fight team in the past 6 years, and it is time to produce more up and coming fighters with the guidance that is needed. Our first Fighter Try Out will take place on May 28th. All members in this class are required to bring full sparring gear: Mouthpiece, Hand Wraps, Boxing Gloves, MMA Training Gloves, and Shin Guards.
